Of course, we’ll handle all the heavy lifting for you, but there are a few things you can do to make the process as seamless as possible. Here are some tips on how to prepare for AC installation.
Have an Idea of What You Want
Your AC installation starts with an initial consultation with a Bradenton One Hour technician. During this appointment, we’ll examine your space, make preliminary measurements, and discuss your needs. It’s fine not to have your new HVAC unit and size picked out yet. We’re happy to make recommendations that will work for your space and your lifestyle. But it is useful to have a rough idea of your AC needs.
Some things you’ll want to consider include:
- What temperature do you want to keep your house?
- Where do you hope to install the unit?
- Are you happy with your current vent and duct layout?
- Do you have any hot or cold spots you want to address?
Clear Space Around Your Installation Area
Though our AC installers will do prep work like laying down floor protection, they can’t do things like pack away items for you. If you have anything stored around your AC unit, make sure it’s moved out of the way. Outside, it’s helpful if you trim back shrubs, weeds, or other overgrowth near your outdoor condensing unit.
Depending on your home’s layout, you might also need to make space for ladders and other larger pieces of equipment to move through the house. If you aren’t quite sure what needs to be moved, feel free to ask at your pre-installation meeting. We can let you know how much space we’ll need.
Check Your Utility Access
Your AC system may connect to other home systems, so it’s a good idea to ensure they’re accessible and functional before we begin the installation.
You’ll want to check your breaker box to make sure the installation team can reach it and work with it. If you’ve had any issues with your electrical systems recently, it might also be worth getting it checked by an expert.
Ideally, everything should be in good working condition, so installation can go as seamlessly as possible.
Inspect Your Ductwork and Condenser Pads
The majority of AC installations will not involve any big changes to the supporting equipment like the ducts that move your air or the pad that supports your outdoor unit. Therefore, it’s important to ensure these features are fully read to support your new system. Secure Any Pets
While we love animals too, an AC installation site is not the spot for your furry friends to hang out. There’s a lot of noise, open doors, and strange people coming in and out of the house, and this can be stressful or risky for pets. We suggest putting your pets in a secure area far away from the installation site. Make sure it has a crate or closed door so you don’t have to worry about your pets escaping.
Make Sure You’re Available the Day of Installation
We do all the hard work of installation, but we want you on-site during the installation too. First of all, we’ll want you around to let in our team and review the service order.
